Welcome to Peter Collies Web Site
On this site you will find information about my work. The site includes the work I do as a lawyer and dispute resolver in the Construction Industry and also about the bespoke furniture that I make. This variety reflects my career path. I left School in 1979 at the age of 16 and became an apprentice Bench Joiner. When I had completed my apprenticeship, I decided to decided I needed to do some further study, which led over a long period to me qualifying as a Barrister in 1994. In the interim time, I worked as a contractors quantity surveyor between 1984 and 1995. Since qualifying as a barrister, I have acted almost exclusively in relation to construction and engineering matters. I enjoy resolving disputes and the challenges that brings. I also enjoy the satisfaction of making things in wood, so when I am not involved in legal matters I like to make furniture. As you now know, I am a barrister practicing at No 5 Chambers we have offices in London, Birmingham and Bristol. I have been at No 5 Chambers since 2000. My work has seen me in a variety of Courts from County Courts to the Court of Appeal in London. Most of my Court work is in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC). In addition to being a Barrister specialising in Construction disputes, I am an Arbitrator, Adjudicator and Mediator for Construction disputes. To date, I have had over 90 appointments as independent neutral. I am a Chartered Arbitrator, a panel adjudicator for matters under the Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act as well as contractual adjudication and a Registered Mediator.
